Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a distinct piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to block the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive placed a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the deaths, public figures shared divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative claims that were broadly criticized by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan characterized the remarks as "shocking" and suggested they showed a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser could have stepped in when the decision to comment on the tragedy was made.
