'Living a Nightmare': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Fire
The families of teens lost after a deadly blaze at a venue in a Swiss winter destination are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and appealing for information about their loved ones via social media.
The fire ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Circulated video reveal the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.
Officials have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the victims of the disaster, which claimed the lives of numerous partygoers and wounded another scores more. A spokesperson said on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts still underway to name the remaining few.
In the meantime, families and friends have been using social media to appeal for clues about their loved ones who were in attendance that fateful night.
Desperate Searches for the Missing
